Selection of desserts on white plate

Located in the original carriage house of the historic Wentworth Mansion in downtown Charleston, Circa 1886 has long reigned as one of Charleston’s finest restaurants - a romantic backdrop for birthday celebrations, a quiet setting to discuss business or entertain friends, a one-of-a-kind venue for rehearsal dinners and bridal events. For over a decade, Executive Chef Marc Collins has worked with a network of local farmers and fishermen creating a special kind of culinary magic, elevating even an ordinary night out to spectacular new heights.

Charming architectural details, including stable doors, original heart-of-pine floors and a wood-burning kitchen fireplace, add to the restaurant’s atmosphere of history and romance. Designed to mimic the original carriage openings, cozy booths with candlelit tables tuck into arched openings that line the walls of the elegant wood-paneled dining room.

Yet for all its splendor, even by Charleston’s exalted standards, what truly sets it apart is the dining experience. Professional, attentive staff serving modern Southern cuisine highlighting locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms and fishing boats. From our Plantation rice bread rolls made in-house daily to a 325+ bottle wine list, Circa 1886 promises one of Charleston’s best, most acclaimed dining experiences.
